Front What is the association between aspirin and colon polyps? 
Back A polyp with a p53 mutation must express high levels of COX to procede to carcinoma.  Aspirin impedes this progression.

Front What is intussusception? Where and why does it happen?
Back When a proximal segment of bowel telescopes into a distal segment.  Usually occurs at the ileocecal junction (the terminal ileum slides into the cecum). Occurs as a result of a point of "traction" in the bowel.  Children -- usually from a viral infection (rotavirus, adenovirus) causing lymphoid hyperplasia. Adults -- usually from a tumor or mass.

Front What does PAS stain for? 
Back Glycoprotein. Used to detect polysaccarides of fungal cell walls, mucosubstances from epithelia, and basement membranes.  Clinically seen in Whipple's disease, which has T. whippeli inside macrophages, which stain with PAS+.
