JLPT N5 Kanji (English Front / Japanese Back)

Language/English
This deck has cards for all 103 of the JLPT N5 Kanji. This list was sourced from: (https://jlptstudy.net/N5/?kanji-list). It should be noted that: as of 2010, there is no official kanji list for the N5 exam. This list is simply an approximate guide that is likely to match requirements for the N5 exam. Each card front has the English meaning(s) on. Each card back has the Japanese kanji and reading(s) on. Please bear in mind that not all of the possible readings and meanings have been included. For some kanji there are 20+ readings and numerous meanings depending on how the kanji is used to form compounds (words). So, only a few high frequency readings and meanings have been selected. This provides a simple base that can be added to, as the user sees fit, as they progress in their understanding of each kanji's use. Personally, however, I would suggest creating a separate deck for new vocabulary containing these kanji. The intended purpose of this deck is primarily writing practice and study of the general meaning of each kanji, not vocabulary learning. Understanding the root meaning of a kanji will often allow you to guess at a kanji compounds meaning, even if you do not know the correct reading. For example: (木刀) = 木 (tree/wood) + 刀 (sword) = wooden sword. Have a piece of paper ready, read the English on the front of the card, write the kanji from memory, then look at the back of the card to check if you wrote it correctly. Unfortunately you'll have to use an online dictionary to check for correct stroke order. Stroke order is important! Don't be lazy and write kanji however you like.
