COCA English Vocabulary Deck (audio, atomic cards)

中文版的README的链接:https://github.com/Ecattea/COCA-English-Anki-Deck/blob/main/README_CN.md

Why this deck?

  • Corpus‑based: 5,000 most‑frequent lemmas drawn from the Corpus of Contemporary American English (COCA) across eight modern genres, so every card teaches a word you will actually meet.
  • Atomic cards: one sense per note. Front shows an example sentence; back reveals a concise definition—no information overload.
  • Learner‑friendly definitions: sourced from Merriam‑Webster’s Learner’s Dictionary—clear, precise, designed for ESL/EFL students.
  • Authentic audio: native‑speaker headword pronunciation plus carefully paced TTS for the sentence to support listening and shadowing.
  • All‑English environment: prompts, examples, and definitions are entirely in English, building reading and listening skills together.
  • Intermediate ready: recommended minimum CET‑4 / IELTS 4.5 / TOEFL iBT 35.
  • Open & free: released under CC BY‑NC‑SA 4.0—share and remix for non‑commercial use with credit.

Study tip: Read the sentence, guess the meaning, then flip the card. You don’t need to memorise every definition word‑for‑word—aim for comprehension.
