3.8K Tagalog to English (Intermediate)

Language/English

This is the resource you have been looking for! Over 3.8k Tagalog sentences with focus Tagalog words in brackets and the English translation of the word on the reverse side.

Tagalog is such a difficult language to only learn words on their own. We have found that including context provides a much deeper understanding of how words are used within the language.

This is an intermediate deck. it is helpful to understand and pronounce at least 500+ Tagalog words, or be familiar with them to partially understand the sentences. Gradually you will begin to understand more and more as you learn.

How to use this deck:

  • Speak the sentences out loud to understand the focus [word] in closed brackets.
  • The reverse side will reveal the focus [word] in English.
  • Use only "Good" or "Again" for the best results.
  • Stay consistent and supplement with additional immersion methods.

This deck was created programatically using Javascript and Node Js:

  1. We collected 3.8k most used English words in a .txt file format.
  2. We then generated English sentences using Open AI's GPT 4o model.
  3. Lastly we then translated English into Tagalog, with some assistance from Google Translate.
  4. This process produced more natural sentences compared to direct word for word translation.

We hope you find this helpful!

Disclaimer: The deck may not be perfect, but it will at least give you a solid foundation that you can build upon. Feel free to correct any mistakes you find.

created by Arnie Tecson I was born in the Philippines in Marikina but moved to Australia when I was 4 years old. I spoke only Tagalog at first, though when I started school I was struggling with English. My teachers advised my parents to speak to me in English at home so that I wouldn't fall behind in class. My parents never spoke to me in Tagalog again. I became accustomed to Australian culture and forgot what it meant to be Filipino. This is my personal deck that I use everyday to bring back my Tagalog. I'm married now, with a Filipino wife, and we have just had our first born son. He and our future children will grow up in a Tagalog speaking home! Don't give up, and be proud to be Filipino!
