Front Slab pull explaned (4)
Back Tectonic plates are moved by convection currents in the mantle; these currents moves the plates as the asthenosphere circulates because of heat radiating from the core (1). As this is happening, one plate sinks at a subduction zone (1). Slab pull explains that as the plate is sinking into the mantle (1), this pulls the lower plate further away from the volcanic ridge where it is formed (1) helping to explain why tectonic plates move.
