RapidRetention - Spanish - EatingOut

Language/Spanish

A flashcard format using evidence-based techniques to improve retention, recall and efficient learning. Covering phrases for eating out with some 'condensed' vocabulary building phrases where many adjectives and nouns are in the same phrase. This gives your brain more 'hooks' to remember.

The 'Stories' link in the flashcard links to an associated long-form story between two people (hosted on a webpage) and there are also a collection of live 'language challenges' to complete.

YouTube showing app format: Watch Demo

✓ Phrases rather than isolated words (So you learn to use these in the right context - Lexical Approach)

✓ Images and Audio for multiple encodings (dual-encoding theory of language learning - retention and recall boost)

Cloze deletion to encourage your brain to complete sentences (rather than giving you the answer as multiple choice)

✓ Additional, word-separated 'slow' audio to help with your pronunciation

✓ Handy hyperlinks and prompts for further study in Wiktionary or an LLM of your choice

Known limitations:

  • Not checked by a native speaker.
  • Translation, audio and images are all generated via AI (A mix of Google, Anthropic, and Microsoft Azure). There will therefore be the odd mistake and bias (e.g. gender-bias).
