For example headaches, kidney failure, liver damage, and memory loss- It will take time to be effective as it only slows down the rate at which LDL is deposited |
| Front | What is Homeostasis? |
| Back | Homeostasis is the maintenance of a constant internal environment by regulating the conditions in which cells, and enzymes work at their optimum to combat changes in the external environment. In the human body, homeostasis controls:- Blood glucose concentration- Body temperature- Water levels |
| Front | RP: Food Tests - Biuret Solution |
| Back | Method:1. Prepare a food sample, and transfer 2cm³ to a test tube2. Add 1cm³ of Biuret solution, using a pipette 3. However, if you do not have biuret solution, add 1cm³ of sodium hydroxide, and then add a few drops of copper sulfate solution4. Gently shake the content of the test tubeResults:- If the food sample contains protein, the solution will change from blue to pink / purple- If no protein is present, it will remain blueSafety:- Biuret solution is irritant, therefore wear gloves to avoid contact with skin- Wear goggles to avoid splashes |
