English phonology (44 sounds)

Language/English
Learning 44 English phonemes by memorizing two-sides cards: a sound is on one side and word examples are on the other. Side 1: /æ/ Side 2: cat, black Side 1: /eɪ/ Side 2: say, wait There are different variations for representing English phonemes. It boils down to the two major versions which are almost identical, but contain some differences in vowels: Oxford English Dictionary version (cat is /kat/) and Cambridge Dictionary version (cat is /kæt/). I used Cambridge-style phonemes (/kæt/) in this deck. There is a good chart of phonemes made by EnglishClub.com (thanks to EnglishClub.com for a beautiful table): https://www.englishclub.com/pronunciation/phonemic-chart.htm
