Improved Cantonese Characters
Slightly less than 5,000 Chinese characters in traditional script with disambiguated readings in jyutping, including Cantonese-only characters.
This deck is based on the deck "Cantonese Characters". As I've worked through it, I've disambiguated the readings, added example compounds, added some characters I've encountered and removed some exceedingly rare characters. Please note that this deck is a work in progress, and many characters still miss example compounds, though almost all should have disambiguated readings.
Some characters have an asterisk or two, which simply means that I consider it important to be able to recall two (*) or three (**) readings of the character. Feel free to remove them.
Some readings have a (coll) and a (lit) reading. This stands for "colloquial" and "literary".
Variant characters and characters used only in place names such as names of rivers are recognition only; other characters are bidirectional. Use the "scratch pad" to practice writing.
Characters and compounds marked with a [粵] are Canto-only characters; those with a [國] are Mando/written-only. Canto-only characters do not have their compounds marked, but of course, these are also Canto-only.
Good luck in your studies!
