FrontText Chloroplasts
FrontAudio
BackText STRUCTURE: - Surrounded by a double membrane. - Has membranes inside called thylakoid membranes. These membranes are stacked up in some parts of the chloroplast to form grana (increases surface area). Grana are linked together by lamellae - thin, flat pieces of thylakoid membrane. FUNCTION:- Site of photosynthesis. - Some parts happen in the grana, and other parts happen in the stroma (thick fluid found in chloroplast which contains enzymes for photosynthesis reaction).

Front What is colorimetry?
Back A colourimeter works by shining light through a sample and can measure how much light is transmitted through it. The more concentrated the colour of the solution, the greater the absorbance of light by the solution and less transmission of light through the sample. Colorimeters are reset by filling the cuvettes with distilled water, they are then placed in the colorimeter. This recalibrates/ resets the reading giving a much more accurate result. Cuvettes are held on the ridged sides to avoid greasy fingerprints affecting results.
FrontText Plasma (cell surface) membrane
FrontAudio
BackText STRUCTURE:- Made of mainly lipids and protein. FUNCTION:- Regulates the movement of substances in and out of the cell. Has receptor molecules on it, allowing it to respond to chemicals e.g. hormones.
