| Back | - Bay of pigs invasion: just after kennedy became president, he approved a plan to invade cuba to overthrow castro and communism. The CIA landed over 1000 cuban exiles on the bay of pigs, in southern cuba, with hopes of starting an anti-communist movement. This fails, as at the last moment kennedy pulls the US air force out of the coup d'etat, meaning the rebels had little to no support - all were captured or killed, and defeated easily by the heavily armed cuban troops. |
