20,000 French Vocabulary (French -> French) (level B1+)

This deck is inspired by similar decks such as [5000 most frequently used French words: https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/893324022] but goes beyond and is more appropriate for intermediate and advanced vocabulary learners. The deck includes 20,000+ of the most common words, indexed by usage frequency. I wrote my own Wiktionnaire parser-scraper which is not as pretty as some others and can occasionally miss picking up items such as IPA notations, but in general is quite sufficient. French-to-French vocabulary learning is much more effective for true French mastery and fluency, as you will begin to think of French words in terms of French concepts instead of as English translations. The bilingual decks are more appropriate for beginning learning, of course. I recommend this deck for French learners with a level of B1 or above. Each word card contains:

• A comprehension note
• A production note
• Stem (word in question)
• Wiktionnaire Link
• Pronunciation Audio
• IPA
• Up to three images
• Part of Speech + gender, position, etc
• All relevant definitions
• One example sentence per usage
• Synonyms (S), Antonyms (A), Derivatives (D), Hyperonyms (Hr), Hyponyms (Ho)

Recommendations: As the notes are ordered by frequency, the first thousand or so words will already be familiar to the intermediate student. Therefore, for each word that appears that you can correctly identify the definition and gender/trans/POS, I recommend suspending immediately and continuing until you find words that are unknown or uncertain. Of course, if you get the gender wrong or mistake a definition (dessiner/désigner gets me every time), treat it like any other new word.
