This Anki deck uses a set of Han characters from 三百千 - a set of three ancient Chinese primers - to teach Literary Chinese 文言文 and the Cangjie 倉頡 input method at once. The aim is to promote compositional awareness in the Han script whilst developing proficiency in Literary Chinese. This is a linguistically backed method of improving memorisation of Chinese characters, combatting character amnesia, all whilst engaging with Literary Chinese on its own terms.
The deck includes English definitions for characters and presents the decomposition of the character as a hint. You type in the combination and it'll tell you how close you are to getting it.
Cangjie is used mainly in Hong Kong nowadays, but is the most neutral way to type the Han script as it is about the characters, not the way they are said. Therefore, it is a phonetically neutral way to use Literary Chinese: Japanese, Korean, and Vietnamese use this script; Pinyin input puts Mandarin at the forefront when it is often a bit inconvenient for Literary Chinese's more obscure characters. No need to learn a new phonology, just type the characters.
