German First Words - with Audio and Helpful Images - Part 1

Language/German
To be slightly over 1000 of the most frequently used German words, with more added all the time! Also contains cards teaching spelling and basic grammatical rules. A variety of pedagogical techniques are used depending on the nature of the words or rules in question. English is attempted to be kept to a minimum, using mainly example images that were originally designed to jog my memory about what the word would translate. Ideally you are supposed to use images that "speak" to you personally given your personal history, culture etc.. If you are like me, a late-millennial white cis-male steeped in somewhat-nerdy pop culture ranging in sci-fi, comedy, comic books, and anime, you might do well with the example-images already provided, but ideally, for your own sake of learning most effectively, you should swap out these images with ones that work for you. Most cards will have the word on one side and example images on the other, alternating which side appears first. To best serve to enable long-term learning, strong imagery is sometimes used -and is suggested if/when you select your own images- thus there may be instances of "salty humor" and mild nudity...all of which you can replace. (I also recommend real pictures over mere illustrations, and color images over black and white.) At the very least, I recommend when you first encounter a new word, to look it up (using dict.cc or de.pons.com, not google translate) in order to better give you an idea of how the images provided are supposed to relate to its meaning. If then those images do work for you, keep them, if not, they are easily replaceable. Each card also usually contains: Its spelling in the international phonetic alphabet, an audio of it's pronunciation, a listing of its gender, grammar type (verb, adj, adv, etc.), plural or comparative forms, and an example of the word's use. Foreign language decks will also contain cards quizzing you on spelling, word order, as well as some fill-in-the-blank quizzes for certain grammatical rules ...or especially ephemeral and esoteric words. (For instance, compare: "goat" vs. "development.") As you can see, a lot of work is involved, and a lot of time is spent in their creation. The pedagogical techniques used are taken from research on learning various languages (especially the techniques suggested in the book "Fluency Forever"), and what I've obtained from years of teaching in the jargon-laden field of Philosophy (to often unprepared first-year college students). This deck was developed in preparing myself for attendance at a German language learning institute, and to pass a test for a Certificate of Fluency (striving for C1). Be sure to update your deck frequently as more content is added. If you enjoy these decks, please show your appreciation for the many hours spent in their creation, by donating or subscribing to my Patreon page "Fluency Flashcards" at https://www.patreon.com/fluencyflashcards.
