The Oxford - Essential 🇬🇧

Language/English

The full deck contains all the words from levels A1 to C1 found in both 'The Oxford 3000' and 'The Oxford 5000', comprising 12,693 cards! Currently, it is only partially completed, as I have created/checked only 700 images out of the 12,693.

For now, I am sharing only a sample of the deck, which contains 565 cards. I am eager to hear your thoughts on the sample deck and whether it needs to be fully completed. The project requires a lot of time and effort, and I have already spent about 2 years on it, with approximately 2-3 months dedicated to the images. Additionally, €350 was spent on the GPT-4 API to generate prompts and eventually on the Leonardo AI API to generate images – Unfortunately, resulting in ~70% being unacceptable. That is why the images must be generated and picked by hand. Essentially, the future of the project depends on your feedback and support

Features

  • It is not some fork from others' work. The deck was crafted from scratch and it has an up-to-date database of words.
  • The full deck contains 12,693 cards, with all words having an A1-C1 level icon on the Oxford website:
  • A huge amount of information is wrapped in a user-friendly and modern UI.
  • Possibility to peek at one or more characters from a word hidden behind '•' before turning the card.
  • Learning verbs is made easier by the fact that each 'verb card' contains all three forms of the verb under the 'Play Button'
  • (Present Simple, Past Simple, Past Participle), regardless of whether it is regular, irregular, modal, or another form of the verb.
  • Ability to go to the Oxford page with a particular word from a card by clicking the level icon:
  • Night theme.
  • Works offline.
  • British English pronunciation and transcription.
  • North American pronunciation and transcription (will be available in the future).

  • Known Issues

  • As far as I recall, the dark theme for Android isn’t working properly because of the unofficial Anki App which uses different approach. In the near future, I’m going to switch to Android and then make some improvements there.
  • Keep in mind that due to the deck containing 163(!) field mapping rows, a large amount of code, and several animated UI elements, performance may be worse than usual.

  • Contacts
