This a deck that contains 10k words in Russian to English sorted by frequency

IMPORTANT NOTE I decided to take a break from studying Russian. I was planning on making some improvements to the deck for example using Wiktionary instead of OpenRussian and also fixing the pronunciation mistakes made by the audio but I dont want to spend 15+ hours(maybe less) on something that I wont use for at least another 7 months. If you yourself want to make improvements to the deck I recommend relying on AI for everything, so ChatGPT, Grok, and potentialy Gemini and or DeepSeek but ChatGPT and Grok were enough for me. I also want to add that I think the frequency list is messed up. You learn words like governmental in like the first 500 words. Its not accurate to a spoken frequency list but more like words found in books and media frequency list which isnt that helpful because youll learn words that you wont need until later in your learning. Another flaw of this deck is the fact that you dont hear the variations of the words so sometimes you dont know how something is pronounced for example: хочу. I thought it was an "o" sound and not an "a" sound which is fine for хочу because you will use it a lot but not every word is as common as хочу. Another enormous issue is the fact that some words are paired together which is completely fine but what is not fine is that if the word is not the first word then there is no flashcard for it. I had absolutely no idea that this was a problem because I thought that perfective and imperfective were ALWAYS the same which is not true. Take for example знать and узнать, they seem to mean the same thing but узнать is more like to recognize, to get to know, and to learn or find out about something which you would have no idea about because the flashcard is suited for only the first word знать which is to know. There are some major issues with this deck and id STRONGLY recommend using another deck first. I would learn from one of the 3000 word decks first then switch to this one if you absolutely have to. I still believe that there are no good russian decks that have more than 3000 words which is why I made this deck in the first place. :/ this is unfortunately the truth, I have already spent wayyy too much time making this deck to spend even more time improving it when I wont use it for another 7+ months.
CHANGE LOG
September 7 2025: Fixed the Show Info boxes being unreadable in dark mode
August 31 2025: Initial Release
Below here is the spreadsheet I used to put the deck together. If you want to use it to make your own anki deck from it, there might be problems with just pasting it directly into anki, for some reason it always gave me an error when a cell started with a + or =. When using the spreadsheet make sure to delete every instance of "(delete)" and replace "\+" with "+" if you want to use it. Dont do this in the spreadsheets because it will just show up as #ERROR or #NAME unless you can bypass this issue.

The deck has accents for the words, genders for nouns, 4 important verb and noun forms, imperfective and perfective pairs, and other information from OpenRussian. For verbs you will get the 1st and 3rd person present tense, 1st person imperfective future, and masculine past. For nouns, you will get the plural, genetive, plural genetive, and prepositional. You can change the color of the gendered nouns in the settings of the card. Browse > Card > Back template and youll see what you need to do. You can paste a color that is in an acceptable format so i think Hexidecimal, RGB, HSL, etc.
I got general information from OpenRussian, i got the audio from Narakeet, i got the frequency from Russian National Corpus, and i got the examples from OpenRussian but i used Opus.nlpl.eu/OpenSubtitles as a fallback, in total they account for 20% of the cards. I used Grok and ChatGPT to create code that helped me create the deck. I combed through the deck to make sure there werent any huge errors. There might be errors with the part of speech(cognates) or frequency (verb pairing). I also took a little inspiration from Neri and his anki card styles.
Quick tip: A lot of word modifications do actually follow a rule, so if you get a feel for the rules instead of learning everything on a case by case basis, it will be much easier on you. When i say word modifications i mean gender or noun declensions. This applies to conjugations too but i think you probably know that.
I spent $66 on the audio so consider dropping a $1 in the buy me a coffee link, i will close the link once it reaches $66.
If you would like to make minor changes then let me know so i can update the deck. if you want to make more major changes you can either let me know just in case i can fix it using the deck creation tools i have, or if you want, you can publish your own version of the deck. I dont really care, you can treat the deck like its public domain. I just want everyone to have access to a good Anki deck for russian, if you have a better one let me know so i can use it instead lol.
