These are flashcards for GCSE chemistry. These flashcards are made using the AQA Chemistry Specification (for triple higher tier science), my notes, revision guides and textbooks. It covers the majority of the content, although some of the earlier topics are not covered.
Topics NOT covered: 1.1) A simple model of the atom, symbols, relative atomic mass, electronic charge and isotopes (except 1.1.1 - Atoms, elements and compounds and 1.1.3 - The development of the model of the atom, which are covered) 1.2) The periodic table 1.3) Properties of transition metals
2.1) Chemical bonds, ionic, covalent and metallic 2.2) How bonding and structure are related to the properties of substances (except 2.2.5 - Polymers, which is covered)
3.2.3) Using moles to balance equations 3.4) Using concentrations of solutions in mol/dm3
This means that the majority of Topic 1 and Topic 2 is not covered. However, almost all of the rest of the content is covered.
Hope this helps!
| Front | State three characteristics of the Alkali Metals. |
| Back | - All have one electron in their outer shell- have low density- are stored under oil (to prevent reactions with oxygen or water)- are soft (can be cut with knife) |
| Front | What does the reaction between carbon dioxide and sea water produce? |
| Back | - insoluble carbonates that are deposited as sediment- soluble hydrogen carbonates |
| Front | In aqueous electrolysis, what is produced at the anode and under what conditions? |
| Back | - oxygen is produced - unless the solution contains halide ions then the halogen is produced. |
