Front Define saturated overland flow
Back This is likely to happen after a succession of winter storms. This will cause the water table to rise to the surface at the base of hill sides. This leads to saturated overland flow when infiltration can no longer take place due to the saturated soil.
Front Define water table
Back Marks the boundary between unsaturated (above) and saturated (below) zones within the earth. The level fluctuates depending on factors such as rainfall amounts.
Front Define the watershed
Back A ridge of high land marking the boundary of a drainage basin, outside of which any precipitation will drain into neighbouring basins.
