| Back | A school of thought that was founded by Sigmud Freud, that focuses on the consciousness and how it interferes with the mental processes and behaviour. Freud first used hypnotism to try to get peole to open up but then discover free association as a way to get people to open up. He was an advocate of the idea that people have traumas, fears and negative thoughts that are hidden in suppressed in thier sunconcious or they were unconscious of these parts of their soul and this affected the way they behaved and thought involuntarily. |

| Back | A school of thought that was founded by Ivan Paslov and it explains that the human mind is able to change based on the reinforcement from the environment. Classical conditoning was done by Paslov were he would ring a bell as he was to feed some dogs, soon enough as the dogs heard the bell they would begin to salivate even if there wasn't any food. They belived that a baby came inot this world as a claen slate and the environment shaped them to become whoever they were. B.F skinner and John Watson were leaders of this field and they introduced operant conditioning, believing that subjects could change their behaviour based on whether the environment positively or neagtively reinforced the behaviour. |

| Back | School of thought that belived that humans had free will and were able to reach a state of happiness or self-actaulization. They investigated what people really needed to achieve this state and Maslow a pioneer of this school created the maslows heiracy of needs that illustrated how people could step by step reach self-actualization. It had an optomistic view on human behaviour and it opposed the Freudian theory. |
