Part 4 of 6 decks for Non-Medical Spanish vocabulary learning + listening and translation practice. The decks are separated by level since the overall deck exceeded the Anki allowed limit.
Each part/level of the total non-medical deck is organized by frequency of word use where Level 1 contains more frequently used words/phrases and Level 6 contains less frequently used words/phrases.
Each part has three categories for practice: vocabulary, listening practice, and hearing practice.
-The listening practice for each level has three sentence lengths, short, medium, and long, each length having 500 examples. I have many more examples I could include, but I randomized the inclusion process to limit the total number of cards (this is also true for the translation practice decks). Each sentence length has a different speed to help build up to faster speech. The short sentences are the slowest, while the long sentences are the fastest at 260 wpm (the average Spanish speaking speed). I ensured to adjust the pitch when changing the speed so it hopefully does not change too much between speeds.
The translation practice has a similar setup to the listening practice decks. For these, it shows you a sentence in English that it wants you to translate into spanish.
This process started when I wanted to make a medical Spanish deck, hence why there is a non-medical deck for more general vocab and a medical one. It may be beneficial to download the medical Spanish vocab deck and transfer some of the earlier level cards to the non-medical deck even if you are not interested in medical Spanish. This is because the way it was partitioned some relevant phrases like sala de emergencia are not in the non-medical deck.
It took awhile to make the programs that compiled all this information and put it together to make each card, so there may be errors in some of the cards. I did my best to address these errors so hopefully any issues will minimally impact learning. If there is something that you think should be fixed, please let me know.
A note on the frequency lists: The frequency lists that were used as comparisons were from Wiktionary. This may not be fully representative of each word's true prevalence, especially for words that are conjugated. For example, estás is number 56 on their frequency list, however, the vocabulary used in this deck are the unconjugated words. Secondly, since the frequency list only consisted of single words and not phrases, the phrases in each deck were distributed based off my gestalt.
A note on the vocabulary lists: Some vocabulary have multiple answers for a given spanish word. I limited the number of multiple answers to 3 so as to not overwhelm people for words like “de” with > 7 translations. Therefore, if de had 7 translations, it would have a total of 3 cards to encompass those translations. This may be annoying for some words where the meaning of the word is very different between each answer, where it would have been better to make it two separate cards. However, I did not want to individually parse through each repeat and make that judgement.
There are most likely words or phrases in this deck that are pejorative, vulgar, or offensive.Needless to say, I do not endorse the use of any of these words/phrases. Please understand that it is not my intention to offend anyone with what is included in these decks. They are simply included for educational purposes and imported from pre-made vocab lists that I put together.
