Front Origin and insertion of vastus lateralis
Back The vastus lateralis originates from multiple points on the femur and inserts into the patella (kneecap) and surrounding structures. Specifically, it originates from the superior portion of the intertrochanteric line, the anterior and inferior borders of the greater trochanter, the lateral lip of the linea aspera, and the gluteal tuberosity. The insertion is via the lateral border of the patella, forming part of the quadriceps tendon, and contributes to the lateral patellar retinaculum
Front --------contractions, the muscle lengthens while contracting, such as when lowering a weight
Back eccentricEccentric Contraction:Muscle lengthens as it contracts.Origin and insertion of the muscle move further apart.Examples include:Lowering a weight during a bicep curl.Walking downhill.Controlling a weight during a push-up.Can generate more force than concentric contractions.May lead to muscle soreness due to microscopic muscle damage.Useful for deceleration and absorbing impact
Front connects muscle to bone
Back tendon
